Dispute Resolution Training in Second life community is introduced in this site.
It said that DAYTON university is trying a tool in Second life to train dispute resolution skill for university students.
Definitely, it is similar to role playing game and is good for training with feeling playing game. How we adapt it to a real dispute resolution? I think it's better to use video conferencing system if second life avatar eliminate expression and intonation. But it's better to use for sexual matter in which participant do not want to be seen.

デイトンの大学の紛争解決クラスでは、セカンドライフを使って紛争解決のスキル学習をしているそうな。教育には向いていると思う。一種ロールプレイングゲーム感覚で使えるのだろうから、練習にはうってつけ。問題は実際の調停に当てはめられるか？という点。声や外見のバイアスは消えるというが、表情や抑揚も消えてしまうということは、TV会議にしたほうがよいということになる。セクハラなど、顔を出したくない場合への適用に限定的か？ネット上で起きた紛争なら、顔を見ないですませたほうがいい場合もあるかもしれない。

職場でのセクハラ紛争解決の場面を想定して、ボスと弁護士、本人と弁護士、調停人の5者が、現実にはそれぞれ別の場所（ニューヨーク空港、デイトン、シンシナティ、インディアナポリス、そしてデイトンロースクール）にいるが、セカンドライフ内の1部屋にいて、紛争解決に臨んでいるという状態。表示されているのは、それぞれが選んだアバター。

Sound silly? As the University of Dayton law students in Andrea Seielstadt's Dispute Resolution Class learned recently, not as silly as you might think. Seielstadt decided to use Second Life as both an introduction to future methods of mediation and a way to let her students return home while still taking the one-week intercession course this month.


先生は、２つの理由でこの方法を選んだという。１つは、未来の方法論の紹介、もう一つは、長期にわたるコースの間でも、生徒を家に帰せるということ。

There are still technical issues to be worked out, students said. Some had trouble keeping their Internet connection, and at least one kept losing her avatar in cyberspace.

Seielstadt said Second Life is a mixed blessing: It can eliminate the biases generated by voices and appearances, but it also eliminates the gestures, intonations and facial expressions that are a big part of human communication.


声とか容姿からくる先入観は消えてしまうという面もあるけど、ジェスチャーとか抑揚とか表情とかも消えてしまう

Still, she said, it's a convenient tool that allows her to supervise multiple negotiations at once, without leaving her office. "While the jury may still be out on whether it would be a good place to offer real dispute resolution services, I'm convinced it's an exceptional place to teach students."

For these 3 years, I am consulting and supporting Japanese university and Oxford language school connecting via video conferencing system, to communicate between students who want to visit Oxford for short study and a host teacher.

ここ３年、ある大学のオックスフォードの語学学校への短期留学生が、実際に留学する前に、TV会議を使って、先生と事前にコミュニケーションをとるための補助授業のお手伝いをしています。

They and their host teacher enjoy pre-lesson via video conference just before the student visit. Even for a short stay, it is the first time for most of student to stay abroad. They are nervous about it, so video conference with their teacher seems to relief their anxiety. The first "nice to meet you" will be done on network, they will feel like "Nice to see you again, teacher" at Oxford. This makes they shake down in foreign environment easily.

先生と生徒は、訪問前にTV会議で会話を楽しみます。短期とはいえ、殆どの生徒が初めての経験で、やや不安を感じていますので、TV会議で先生と会話することは不安を取り除く手助けになるようです。初対面の”はじめまして”は、ネットワーク上で済んでいますので、オックスフォードでは、”またお会いしましたね”という感覚で会えるのです。これで別の環境にすぐになじむ事ができます。




After coming back from short stay, They meet again on network, and talk about the time they spend with.
さらに、短期留学から戻ってきたあとでも、もう一度ネットワークで補助授業を行い、一緒に過ごした時の事を話し合います。

これは、（このブログのテーマである）紛争のことではありませんが、頻繁なコミュニケーションが障害を乗り越えることを示すよい例題です。

I think technologies for ODR are not necessary to be used only for Dispute Resolution itself,but Video conference works as preparation for face to face session to break ice or to know each other. Since Dispute Resolution is not for deciding winner or looser, but to solve the problem for working together again.

私は、ODRが必ずしも紛争解決そのものに使われなくてもいいのかもしれないと思います。相対する紛争解決の場に赴く前の準備段階で、お互いをよく知り、冷たい空気を壊すためにあってもいいと考えています。紛争は、勝者敗者を決めるためにより、また一緒に何かを行えるようになるために、問題を解決しようとするためのものなのだから。

I was searched by someone who wants to know where I am, by using a function which is provided by cell phone provider, NTT-DOCOMO, called "IMA-DOKO-SEARCH".
The function can search a place of a certain cell phone with its number. If you want to search, you enter a target number, then a system send email message to a cell phone to ask him to allow answering where he is.

It will be useful if you want know where is your kid if He/Her is out of home by oneself, or, if elder people who is suffering from dementia is out of home and you want to know where one is. However, for me, It was rather creepy thing to be searched, and it will become another seed for conflict on network society.

iPhone is now available in world wide. I am curious if it will equipped a same function, and How do you feel about it?

フレッシュネスバーガーに昼飯を買いにきた。

当たり前だけど、４月以来、仕事のことばっかり考えてる。
出来上がるのを待っている間だけ、ちょいとノウミソ休憩。

こいつは前職の会社の創業者から破格の値段で譲り受けた。丁寧に乗られていたもので、エンジンはすこぶる調子がよい。クーラー（エアコンではない！冷やすと永遠に冷え続ける）が壊れたので修理に出したのだが、適合するコンプレッサーのベルトが見つからなくて、結局クーラーガスを補充しただけで戻ってきた。修理工場の社長曰く「これはクーラーなんて似合わねーよ。そのために三角窓がついているんだからさ」。案の定、あんまりクーラーは冷えないなぁ。

iPodを聴くために、FMラジオに接続する機器を買ったのだが、これがシガーライターからの電源が必要で、それもついでに修理。これまた、AMラジオでFENかなんかをかけた方が似合うのだが、たまには聴きたい音楽を自由に聴きたいしね。

待っている間に宝くじを買った。コインでこすってすぐに当たりがわかるやつ。スクラッチだ。運試し。２０００円買ったのだが、１０枚の中に２００円（これは必ず1枚入っているやつ）、１０００円！！そして５０００円！！！しめて６２００円！！！！これって効率よくない？笑　でも運の一部を確実に使っちゃったかも。ははは。

更に隣の書店で、浦沢直樹の「PLUTO」最新刊が出ていたので購入。手塚治虫の鉄腕アトムの中の名作「地上最大のロボット」の焼き直しだ。原作も面白かったが、この作品は秀逸。何度も読んじゃってる。それにしても原作のタイトル「地上最大の」っていうのが、今考えるとちょっとヘン。ストーリーからすると大きさを競っているのではなく強さを競っている話だから、「地上最強の」が正しいような気がするなぁ。だってアトムは人間の子供サイズだから、地上最大のじゃあ、参加資格ないもんね。

昨夜は1ヶ月ぶりにキックボクシングにいったので、足腰がだるい。少し昼寝でもしようか。しかし、暑い。
